Another key aspect of crisis management is ensuring that essential operations and business can continue despite a disruptive crisis with business continuity plans. Good emergency and crisis planning aims to reduce, control or mitigate the effects of emergencies such as natural disasters, spills of hazardous materials, fires and explosions, and security threats. While pre-planned emergency response is most effective for the immediate tackling of any predictable event, the unpredictable nature of crises, often from unforeseen risks that could threaten the existence of the organisation, means that a more creative style aligned with the organization’s values is required. This course will provide adequate knowledge and skills to participants in order to manage and handle all crisis/emergency situations at a strategic level, sustain business continuity and take all necessary decisions. It will cover some main aspects of tactical response at an introductory level that will serve for decision-making at the strategic level.

By the end of this course, participant will be able to:
• Define the requirements and importance of Emergency and Crisis Response Management
• Discuss aspects of integrated emergency management
• Differentiate the types of Emergencies relevant to the industry and utilisation of available resources to support the emergencies.
• Recognise their respective roles and responsibilities in the emergency response and/or crisis management plan including escalate/deescalate of emergencies accordingly.
• Participate in organisation’s emergency response and/or crises control drills/exercises, document and report incidents according to organisational procedures.
